How to get to Blacks Beach - Nude Beach - Trail Head in San Diego
From LA go South on Hwy 5, Below Hwy 8, Interstate 52 and from East County, take Highway 8 or Interstate 52 West towards the Beach, then 5 North.
Go West on Genessee Avenue approximately 0.8 miles to North Torrey Pines Rd. Turn Left (South) on to Torrey Pines Rd and Drive 0.2 miles to Torrey Pines Scenic Road. Turn right and drive in to the Torrey Pines Gliderport at the end of the road. You will see a very large parking lot that extends to the North. When parking in this lot or any beach lot, make sure to hide your valuables PRIOR to arrival to the nude beach / glider port parking area. I have known people to return to their car and find a broken window due to them hiding some inexpensive junk under their car seat or simply looking for a water bottle prior to hiking down to the beach.
There are numerous trails going down to the beach, all of which are quite difficult and you must be VERY careful when using these routes. Not only are they difficult and dangerous to walk down, they are equally dangerous and exhausting to climb back up. Make sure you are up to it. On the return hike, make sure to take plenty of rest stops and let others walk around you if feel you are slowing the pace down. I have seen numerous people faint on the walk back up. One guy fained and rolled to about 1 foot of a 200 foot cliff before I could catch up to him. If you don't like this route, you can drive to a paved road which is much easier to walk up and down but takes approximately 30-40 minutes to get to the nude beach section of Blacks. If you think you might have any difficulties making the tough hike, make sure you try the paved road first!
Easier Nude Beach Access through Salk Canyon
Again, exit Interstate 5 at La Jolla Village Drive and go West. If you follow La Jolla Village Drive, it will eventually curve to the right and turn in to North Torrey Pines Rd. Turn Left at La Jolla Shores Dr. then right onto La Jolla Farms Rd. At the intersection of La Jolla Farms Road and Black Gold Road is the access road to Black's Beach. Pedestrian access is unrestricted, but you can not drive down the road. Find a good parking spot and hide any valuables in your car prior to arrival. Take your time and expect to walk 30 - 45 minutes before hitting the nude section of the beach. You will be walking further if you are going to the Northern gay section of the beach. Have a good time and take plenty of water. You might get lucky and be able to purchase some water, soda or beer on the beach, but don't plan on it and bring everything you need to the nude beach!
